Four Peaks Racing Car Chronology
Feb 2004:
The start of four peaks racing with the purchase of “FPR1”. This was a 1986 Mazda RX7, essentially
stock engine, prepared by Keith Morrisson. Raced this car in P3 class of the WCRC.
April 2004: Had to replace out first “lateral
link”, an element of the rear suspension that was damaged when clipping the bridge at the end of the last stage of our
first ever rally
June
2004: Had improvements to make car legal for WCMA road racing. Added dash-bar to the cage, window
net, master kill switch
June
2004: Serious front end damage at Mountain Trials ‘04. Bumper, Hood and Front Quarter Panels
were replaced with silver from PC1
Nov
2004: Moderate front end damage at Kananasikis ’04. Bumper replaced with white
Feb 2005: Installed Racing Beat Header.
Now run as a Group 2 WCRC car.
Winter-Summer
2005: Air Intake, RB anti-roll bars, stainless break lines, electric fan, aluminum Rad
August 2005: Installed a rebuilt race engine
from RX7 Specialties. Ported 13B with upgraded apex seals, oil regulator, HP LW rotors, lightweight flywheel,
and RB clutch. (We call this engine “Adam1”)
Winter 2005: Added Hot Bits suspension, front and rear, new Sparco Evo2 Seats
Oct 2006: Rolled
FPR1 off an embankment during PFR. Sustained heavy body damage and wrote-off chassis, but engine and drive
drain were salvageable.
Dec
2006: Bought “FPR2”, a recently rally prepared 1988 RX7 with a stock engine and Hot Bits suspension.
April 2007: Had the
cage in FPR2 modified to be WCMA road-race legal.
July 2007: After a road-race accident, had to replace most of the body panels and paint FPR2 red.
